  5. Microway's Numeric Data Processor NDP-486 is a globally native code compiler
  6. which operates in protected mode under UNIX. The upper limit on segment size in
  7. linear address mode is four gigabytes. This makes it possible to port mainframe
  8. applications to your 80386 or 80486 systems. These compilers are ideal for
  9. serious programmers who write numerically intensive applications that address
  10. large arrays. When used to re-compile existing 16-bit programs, execution speed
  11. increases of up to seven times can be achieved. NDP Fortran 486 is a full
  12. implementation of FORTRAN 77 as specified by ANSI X3.9-1978, with extensions
  13. that allow the user to write new applications or port existing ones. These
  14. include the U.S. Department of Defense Supplement to Fortran 77 (MILSTD-1153),
  15. FORTRAN 66 features, the documented and undocumented extensions to the Berkeley
  16. 4.2 BSD UNIX 77 compiler for VAX/VMS and many MS DOS FORTRAN compiler features.
  17. As a result, NDP Fortran compiles most FORTRAN 66 and 77 applications without
  18. modification. NDP Fortran generates programs, procedures and arrays without any
  19. limitation on the size of any unit.
